About
Welcome! My name is Mike Keysboe, and as the owner of Long Live Vinyl Records, it is an absolute joy to serve the beautiful community of Palos Park, IL and the greater southwest suburbs of Chicago! I grew up in Downers Grove, IL and started working at my first record store, Sound Warehouse (later changing their name to Music Warehouse when the big chain came to town), in 1983. I worked there until the spring of 1986 when I accompanied my parents on a move to Portland, Oregon, where I ended up working at Tower Records for a brief time. Being homesick, I ended up moving back to Illinois in November of that same year where I got a job at Sound Warehouse (that big chain I mentioned here).. I became a store manager in early 1988 and continued there until 1992 when I was recruited by Best Buy and worked as a Music Manager until 1997.The music retail world changed dramatically at that time, and I ended up changing careers; eventually becoming a teacher.
As I am now in the twilight of my teaching career, I have always missed record retail and dreamed of one day owning my own store. The vinyl resurgence in recent years has been exciting to see, and I felt the time was right to make my dream a reality! What better way to spend your retirement than doing something you truly love?
Though I am the owner, I truly want this to be YOUR store. If you’re looking for something special, please let me know. I will do whatever I can to get it for you! Besides new and used records, I will be selling turntables, accessories, cleaning solutions, posters, t-shirts, and more! Do you have any used records that you no longer want? I am interested in looking at your collection and will offer you a very fair price if interested! No collection is too big or too small. If your collection is too large to bring into the store, I would be happy to make an appointment to come see it.
Please stop by and say hello! I love to talk all things music, and I look forward to meeting you. Until then, long live vinyl!
All the best,
Mike
